With New Years coming up, here are a list of ten important suggestions for your resolutions in 2016.
Get outside: Fresh air and sunshine can improve mood and energy levels. Try to get outdoors every day, even for just a few minutes.
Exercise: Of course we all know how important exercise is, but we often forget or put it off. Even as we postpone exercising we know the health benefits and we need to remember the mental benefits of being happier and increased feeling of contentment.
Spend time with loved ones: This is one of the biggest sources of happiness in our lives. Not feeling socially connected can lower cognitive ability and lead to an early death. “When a persons sense of social connectedness is threatened, their ability to self-regulate suffers; for instance their IQ performance drops (Baumeister, Twenge, & Nuss, 2001).
Get in control of your schedule: Don’t allow others to pressure you in to doing things that are not good for you or will prevent you from accomplishing what you need to get done.
Be Grateful: As you see what you have, you won’t resent what you don’t have.
Get enough sleep: Being tired actually makes it harder to be happy. There are also other advantages to enough sleep: You look better, your decision making skills increase. Increased alertness and performance, enhanced learning abilities.
Laugh this year.
Laugh: Laughting can help improve your immune system, as well as reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes. When you use humor to cope with life, you will live longer and studies even show you will experience less pain during dental work.
